Once the Team System gets implemented to the game, users will be able to create their own teams which can be customized to a great extent. Not only will players be able to upload custom icons for their clan but also flaunt their sigils directly in the game by engraving them onto rocks and banners.
Each team will be allowed to upload three images to their customization tab that will later on be used as resources in-game.
Team Icon
This is the team’s logo that shows up during the loadscreen, Waiting for Players screen, Captain’s Draft and in the top bar of the HUD.
Team Logo
A logo that will be engraved onto various stones across the map on the side to which the team belongs. You can find a list of few such spots from in the game below (Eg: Team Radiant).
Team Banners
Everybody likes waving their colors and this is your chance to flaunt your team’s colors by adorning them neatly over the multiple banners slots available in the game. Take a look at few such spots below (Eg: Team Radiant).
Pumped up about it but you are not sure if you can create good logos for your team? There is nothing to worry. Here is a short guide that will help you through.
- When creating a custom team set, it’s important to factor in how the environment is affected by banners and logos. While brighter/saturated colors can be used in moderation for banners, ground base logos generally call for more muted colors.
- A good practice is to have banners start with the desired color and intensity at the top of the banner where it’s draped over, and steadily gradient to more muted, ambient color at the bottom. Soft greens, blues and cyan are good examples of ambient colors that work with Dota’s aesthetic.
- The surrounding base logo background should match closely to the banner’s lower gradient color, rather than the brighter/saturated top.
- These 2 rules of thumb will create a custom set that has visual depth in the world, and that promotes good visibility for gameplay.
You can also download a bunch of pre-made templates for the same that will make your logo creation procedure far more simpler and suit the visual aspect and art style of Dota 2 even more.
